Character Creation
Character Creation and Species Info Moose_11

When creating your character, there are a few things to keep in mind. This guide will cover what is allowed and not allowed when it comes to character creation. If you are unsure if something is allowed please feel free to reach out in the chat! All characters need a biography before entering the roleplay. Make sure to submit them to the Character Database as well.  Biography Form Example Biographies need to have the basic information and either the personality or the history filled out to be accepted. Personalities can be character traits rather than 200 words. Histories can be written as you go through the RP.

Playable Characters
Moose Tracks accepts a variety of playable animals including the wolf, coywolf, coyote, wolfdog, large domestic dogs, Maned wolves, and hybrids of these animals. All of these animals have unique characteristics to them and all have strengths and weaknesses to even things out in the roleplay. Which hunting and dueling don't play on these attributes proactively, it is expected that all plays keep the basics in mind and apply your own to make the character unique. If you have a canid species you would like to add, members can run it by the admin. All of the species need some kind of roleplay based introduction if these animals wish to join the pack. Keeping to our semi-realistic genre, this means that animals like the Coyote or the Maned Wolf might not join the pack but become allies and create their own smaller packs for roleplay diversity.

What is allowed:

  • Semi-realistic markings >> This means the wolf can have markings that normally wouldn't be found on a wolf like swirls or a dotted line down their nose. Marking still maintain natural colors and don't contain unique qualities such as glowing.

  •  Unrealistic eye colors >> Wolves can have, green eyes, blue eyes, pink eyes, red eyes, etc.

  •  Unique backstory >> Wolves can come from any part of the world. The plot species as a rescue from poachers but a wolf can come to a reserve or sanctuary for a number of different reasons, such as rescue from abandonment, rescue from human pet life etc.

  •  Speak their Language >> Wolves can speak different languages according to where they came from but the translation must be included in the post as well.

  • Unique wolf terms >> Wolves don't refer to certain things the way a human would. Be sure to review our Terminology while roleplaying. For example, we may be known to humans as the White River pack, but the pack name is known to wolves as the Rising Spirits Pack.

  • Disabilities >> Disabilities can be things like blindness, missing limbs or ears, old injury struggles, arthritis, etc. If you aren't sure if something is allowed, please ask in the chat.

  • Accessories >> Considering the year of the roleplay, tracking collars and tags didn't exist. A rope that was broken is possible to wear at the neck. Harnesses are also possible if the backstory is escape from a Frost Rider.

What is not allowed:

  • Rainbow markings >> Some color is fine, but we don't allow straight pink wolves or rainbow wolves. If the character has a marking or two that they may refer to as a tattoo or tribal marking from where they came from, that is fine.

  •  Growth Mutations >> Aside from the natural mutations of wolves, we don't allow wings, horns, extra legs or tails.

If something isn't listed in the lists above, please ask!
Rules are subject to change with notice!

Wolf Species Guide
Character Creation and Species Info Moose_11

Glacarian Wolves
Glacarian wolves resided in the Northernmost region of The Emerald Forest. Glacarian have long, thick coats that help keep them warm during Frost season. Highly active in colder weather, these wolves thrive during winter hunts. Long coats meant that the Glacarian are less active during warmer seasons due to risk of overheating. Rather than hunt during the day, Glacarian hunt at night when the weather cools during Cinder season; they fair well in Harvest and Root Season. Glacarian Wolves have shorter ears than other species but their weight and bulk makes up for it when hunting larger prey. Glacarian Wolves range between 80lbs for females and nearly 90lbs for males. Nomads called the Glacarian Wolf the Frost Wolf. They made their homes in stone caves carved into the mountains. What makes them the Frost wolf is the gleaming white coats. Wolves born with any other coat color were believes to be mutated and cast out of the pack.

Candarian Wolves
A Candarian wolf has long legs and a lean stature. Their short-haired coat allows them to hunt well in the Root and Cinder season. Candarians are medium weight ranging from 65lbs for females and 70lbs for males. Candarians are tall but their light weight doesn't leverage them in a hunt. Candarian wolves need to rely on their speed and agility to drive prey to larger pack members. Candarians are more active in the Cinder and Root season while they prefer to keep warm during Frost and Harvest season. Candarians first appeared in the Westernmost part of the Emerald Forest. Nomads referred to this wolf as the Shadow wolf due to their common use of hunting in the coverage of foliage to prevent themselves from being seen. Candarian Wolves hunt best as night in the summer as their darker coats don't serve them well in daytime. Candarian wolves lived in the bark of trees and thickets. Candarian wolves have coats of grey, black and dark browns. A white coat is considered a sign of good fortune.

Valarian Wolves
Formerly common in the Easternmost part of The Emerald Forest, Valarian wolves faired most easily compared to most on the smaller prey they often kept to the open fields of the Emerald Forest. Known to Nomads as the Fox wolf, Valarian wolves were the smallest of all species.  They have short, thin coats and short legs and long ears. Valarian wolves were not accustomed to large prey hunts. In fact, their light weight of 50lbs for females and 55lbs for males makes them more ideal for small prey than other species. Valarian wolves had keep hearing that allows them to hear even a mouse scurrying across their path. Their smaller size keeps them quick but the chase is only in spurts due to their shorter legs. Valarian wolves will hunt at dusk or dawn when smaller prey are most active.  Valarian wolves lived in Burrows to protect them from predators and hunters roaming the fields. Valaria wolves have red, brown, tan and cream coat colors. A black wolf was a sign of corruption and often cast out.

Lytharian Wolves
Lytharian Wolves were found in the Southernmost part of The Emerald Forest. They aren't well known across the span of the other species. Lytharian wolves have no specific size or weight. What makes them different from the others is their extremely low numbers. Lytharia wolves were seen most often near Moose Creek or the river. Nomads called Lytharian wolves the Apparition Wolf on account of their low numbers. Their wolves preferred to fish and seen as excellent swimmers unlike their kindred species.  When the water freezes in Frost season. the Lytharian traveled outside their borders and fed from the carcasses of another's kill. Lytharian are more prone to disease due their strict diets. Lytharian also roamed the streets of the Nomad territories for scraps and hunted the Talu and Mongrels when given the chance. Rumors are that Lytharian come from The Tear and move their home in the ravine.
